Medication dispenser manufactured in the USA Gator XL.

The GATOR XL dispenser is exceptionally resistant to medications administered even as suspensions and the most aggressive chemicals (chlorine dioxide and others) thanks to its bypass feature.

The Gator XL medication dispenser for drugs, fertilizers, and chemicals such as chlorine dioxide is a modern device designed for agriculture, food processing, and home use. It has features that distinguish it from similar devices offered on the Polish market. The Gator XL has a factory-set constant amount of liquid drawn in relation to the water flowing through the system, 1 part liquid to 100 parts water - 10,000 ppm. The amount of medication administered to animals is adjusted solely by appropriately diluting the liquid drawn in by the dispenser. This significantly reduces the risk of mistakes and incorrect dosing compared to regulated devices. The dosing accuracy is very high. Most American manufacturers do not make water dispensers with adjustable liquid intake. Instead, they produce models with different, but fixed dilutions. This has apparently been deemed safer.

Advantages of the Gator XL dispenser:

  • Very strong construction made of elastomers makes the Gator XL housing practically indestructible.
  • Withstands water system pressure up to 8 bars!!!
  • Chemicals do not pass through the water motor but are directed to the water stream exiting the pump - eliminating the need to install multiple pumping units for different substances, and allowing for the administration of exceptionally aggressive chemical compounds without fear of damaging the pump.
  • Long piston stroke in the dosing part increases its lifespan and dosing accuracy.
  • Modular construction facilitates servicing the device and easy replacement of worn components.
  • It does not have an adjustment for the amount of injected preparation; it draws 10 ml of solution for every liter of flowing water. The concentration of the preparation in the water is adjusted by appropriately diluting the drawn solution, reducing the risk of overdosing the medication.
  • Low price compared to competing devices of this class.

A regeneration kit is included with each dispenser, which consists of:
1. Dispenser insert-8031
2. Stem seals-2011
3. Tension band-2020
4. Filter screen 3063-1
5. Silicone-8055

General rules for administering medications to the water line
Constant dosing of the working fluid - 1:100 or 1:50

Administering medications to animals directly into the water line through the agricultural dispenser GATOR - XL is simpler and more effective than administering medications with feed. The GATOR - XL dispenser integrated into the water pipe system supplying water to automatic drinkers ensures that in every liter of water consumed by the animals, there is the same concentration of the administered medication or other substance. Medications, vitamins, acidifying agents, disinfectants like chlorine dioxide in the Armex 5 preparation, and many others can be administered in water. Sick animals generally have a reduced appetite, consuming less feed with the medication, which results in them receiving too small a dose of the medication. As a result, there is a lack of therapeutic or preventive effect. Moreover, administering too small a dose of antibiotics must be considered, as it can lead to the development of bacterial strains resistant to the administered medication. The amount of water consumed is directly proportional to their body weight and is about 10% in summer and 7% in winter. Sick animals sometimes drink more. To avoid spilling water with expensive medication, it is advisable to use bowl drinkers instead of nipple drinkers.

Example of medication administration

In the room, there are 150 pigs with an average weight of 50 kg suffering from dysentery. For treating dysentery, we use Tiamulin at a dose of 6 mg/kg. We have Tiamulin 45% granulate available. In 1 g of the preparation, there are 450 mg of pure Tiamulin. 450 mg / 6 mg/kg = 75 kg - meaning 1 g of the preparation is sufficient to treat 75 kg of animals. The mentioned group of animals weighs 7500 kg. Therefore, they should be given 100 g of the commercial preparation containing 45% Tiamulin (7500 kg / 75 kg/g of preparation = 100 g of preparation). It is estimated that the aforementioned animals will drink about 750 l of water daily (10% of body weight). 1% of this amount is 7.5 liters of water. In this amount of water, we dissolve 100 g of the commercial preparation with Tiamulin and insert the suction element of the GATOR - XL dispenser into this solution. Keeping accurate records of the amount of water consumed by the animals throughout the day is not only a valuable diagnostic parameter but also helps in determining the correct dosage of the medication in the water.

Mixing medication with water

The working fluid is mixed with water outside the dispenser.
The working fluid bypasses the dispenser and is injected directly into the water stream behind the dispenser. This method of mixing is used in all expensive electronic dispensers. Therefore, the water pump of the GATOR - XL dispenser does not come into contact with the administered medications, chemical compounds, or organic substances. Thus, it is possible to administer the most aggressive substances to the water without the risk of damaging the water pump. For such fluids, other dispensers must have expensive Teflon bodies. Since no fluid with medication or other substances enters the interior of the water pump of the dispenser, there is no need to disassemble and thoroughly rinse the dispenser after each change of the administered fluid (e.g., from acid to vaccine). It is sufficient to rinse the body and seals in the chemical part, which is very easily accessible. This significantly extends the lifespan of the GATOR - XL dispenser. The manufacturer provides a 2-year warranty on the GATOR - XL. Along with the dispenser, a repair kit for the chemical part with a complete set of pistons and seals is supplied.

Connection to the water system

The GATOR - XL dispenser should be connected to the water circuit through a bypass that can be closed, allowing water to flow bypassing the dispenser. A filter should be installed in the bypass to prevent mechanical impurities from entering the dispenser, and a check valve should be placed at the outlet to prevent water with medication from flowing back into the dispenser. Proper installation and operation of the dispenser guarantee its trouble-free and long-lasting operation.
